SCOTT RUCH INC.
TESTING, BALANCING, HEAT LOAD CALCULATION

IS YOUR NEW HEATING AND COOLING SYSTEM GOING TO BE SIZED AND BALANCED PROPERLY?

In research and development laboratories across the country, manufacturers test their equipment for capacity and efficiency. These tests are conducted under exact conditions that make the equipment function perfectly. Rarely are these conditions equaled in the field. The results are often poor at best.

In the past, when it came time to installing a heating and cooling system into a home, numbers, calculations, sun exposure, airflow, and construction method considerations played a very small part. "Rule of thumb" was a popular sizing method for equipment and ductwork. "Put in a big furnace, and it will all work" was an accepted concept. Unfortunately, it didn't always work that way. Loss of efficiency, and poorly performing heating and cooling systems were often the result.

We thought there should be a better way, and after much research, we found it.

Our Computerized Heating and Cooling Load Analysis program uses the Windows version of the Air Conditioning Contractors of America's (ACCA's) methods for load calculation and duct sizing. Rather than assume that your old equipment is right for your house, we will size it according to the above national standards. Before we remove your old equipment, we will come to your home with our laptop computer. The information going into the computer will include size of rooms, ceiling height, window size and construction, floor wall and roof material, insulation, sun exposure, and weather data for this area.

Our Computerized Heating and Cooling Load Analysis program produces reports that detail proper equipment sizes, and the necessary airflow needed to each room of your home to achieve the desired heating and cooling results. We often find that putting in smaller equipment as specified by the program works better and more efficiently than the larger equipment we replace. Most ductwork systems that are already installed in homes do not deliver properly balanced airflow, often resulting in drafts and sizeable temperature variations from room to room.

An Air Flow Hood is an instrument that precisely measures the amount of airflow into a room when the Hood is placed over a duct register. With the Air Flow Hood we perform Airflow Testing and Balancing procedures. We test the airflow in every room in the house. We compare these measurements to the design airflow numbers in our computer-generated report. Then, by adjusting registers and re-testing, we proportionally balance the duct system to provide uniform supply air distribution.

We have gone to great effort and expense to acquire the knowledge, equipment and ability to be able to provide Computerized Heating and Cooling Analysis and Air Testing and Balancing services. Across the country, companies qualified to perform these services are paid sizeable fees for doing so. We include these services with every heating and cooling installation we do.

Installing new heating and cooling equipment in your home is a large investment, and we all want to be sure that such a large investment is made wisely, and provides good value. We see our job as supplying you the best of properly sized equipment, installed carefully to assure you as much comfort and efficiency as possible.
